Red Sox Tuck Away 5-2 Win Over St. Louis
|
The Boston Red Sox dealt the St. Louis Cardinals a 5-2 loss at Busch Stadium. Tony Williams was the star on offense. He was 2 for 4 with a double and a walk. He scored 2 runs. Jamie Decker, now 2-0, was credited with the win in 2.1 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on no hits, while striking out 1 and walking 1. St. Louis is now 2-7.
Boston used a well-timed hit by Mike Rivas to capture the win. The third baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Red Sox ahead, 4-2. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.
"I'm just out there trying to have as much fun as I can while I'm playing," Rivas told the Boston Today.
