The Minnesota Twins beat the Philadelphia Phillies by a score of 9-4. Minnesota left fielder Erik Hardin deserved the lion's share of the credit. Hardin was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 5 runs and scored once for the Twins. Josh Stillwell, the winner, is now 1-0. He struck out 2 and walked 4 over 6.2 innings, while allowing no runs on 2 hits. Minnesota goes to 4-3.
Joe Nolt had a big 2-run home run for the Twins in the top of the fourth inning. With Minnesota leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a cutter from 26-year old right-handed pitcher Matt Morrison and swatted a home run to left. It was his 4th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Twins ahead, 3-0.
"Solid performance from our side," said Twins manager Drew Rucinski.
