The New York Mets downed the Chicago White Sox, 7-6, at Citi Field. The Mets were led by Kurt Wells. Wells was 3 for 4 with a triple and a double, while scoring 2 and driving in 4. Nick Guzman recorded his 1st save for New York. With the loss, Chicago drops to 3-4.

Had Jose Alvares not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Alvares hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 7-6, in favor of the Mets.

"Our approach was just to try to see something over the plate and be aggressive," Wells told the New York Chronicle.
