|
San Juan starter Mike Mackey put a stranglehold on the San Diego offense. The right-hander had complete command of his changeup in leading the Cangrejeros to a 3-1 win. Jeremy Bristow claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2 innings. His record stands at 1-1. Tommy Downs picked up his 1st save of the season.
San Juan used the timely hitting of Dan Fugate to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Cangrejeros on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We busted our tails," said San Diego manager Jim O'Hara. "But we came up short."
The win gives San Juan a record of 1-4.
