The Seattle Mariners beat the Houston Astros, 1-0, at T-Mobile Park. Starting pitcher Randy Armatys was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. Mitch Ostdiek picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Mike Saggese suffered the loss. The win puts Seattle at 2-2.

Seattle took a 1-0 lead on Marvin Hill's 1st home run of the season. The solo home run, which Hill hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Houston pitcher Mike Saggese visibly frustrated.

"Randy is a tough competitor," said Seattle manager Tim Berry.
