The San Francisco Giants ushered in the 2039 season with a win versus the San Juan Cangrejeros at Oracle Park. The final score was 4-3, Giants, in 11 innings. Third Baseman Dave Asay had a standout performance. Alex Trinidad, now 1-0, picked up the win in relief. He allowed 1 run on 1 hit in 2 innings.

The decisive blow was delivered by Raul Vasquez in the bottom of the 11th when he hit a 2-run double off 25-year old right-handed pitcher Tommy Downs to win the game for San Francisco. The home crowd went nuts.
