Cubs Stun Diamondbacks, 3-1

The Chicago Cubs had to overcome a good performance from Arizona pitcher Steve Roche to claim a 3-1 win at Chase Field. Roche went 8 innings and allowed no runs. Ricky Irizarry snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit over 1.1 innings. He's now 1-0 on the season. Ramon Vasquez picked up the save, his 8th.
Dylan Wiersema came through with a big-time hit for Chicago. The second baseman smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 2-1. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"The other side played a good game," said Arizona manager Jed Carter. "You tip your cap to them."
The win puts Chicago at 16-16.
