Angels Roll to 8-0 Win Over Cardinals
|
The Los Angeles Angels took on the St. Louis Cardinals at Angel Stadium of Anaheim.
Los Angeles pitcher Nate Champion had a large part in his team subduing the St. Louis Cardinals, 8-0. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the right-hander. The Cardinals, now 11-20, continue their poor start.
Mike Evans had a big 3-run home run for the Angels in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Los Angeles leading 3-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he sized up a sinker from Dan Shew, who is tied for 3rd in the NL in strikeouts with 46, and punished it. The result was his 4th home run of the season, which put the Angels on top, 6-0.
Evans called winning a team effort. "It's not the same guy every time," he said. "It's the sum of the parts."
