Texas shortstop J.J. Maughan had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Maughan hit 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice, even as Montreal beat the Rangers, 9-3. Joe Meyers, now 2-1, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. The victory makes Montreal 16-13.
Joe Swan chipped in for Montreal, stroking a crucial run-scoring double in the bottom of the eighth inning. For the game, the first baseman went 1 for 3 with a double and a walk.
"We're not exactly playing great right now," said Juan Hernandez, the Texas manager.
